This is the second standalone book in the Matheson family series. It was a fascinating second chance M/M romance between Tate, second-born Matheson, and Simon, Tate’s cowboy. The book goes back in time first to show their meet-cute and then fast-forward to today after they have been apart for years. There were poignant moments such as Tate’s gift for Simon’s birthday, “skypeing” with baby Tilda and Simon getting advice from one of his mothers.The Mathesons are a large (six siblings) in-your-business kind of family who love and protect one another. Simon is adopted in an only-child family of two mothers so he quite enjoyed getting to know Tate’s big family when they were together. Now Tate’s older brother, Mason who settled down with Kyle in book #1 in this series needs to “fix” things between Simon and Tate. Will it work? Of course, but what happens along the way is sometimes mind-boggling, tense, ridiculous and downright exasperating. Oh, and if you want HOT, catch chapter 10 for starters.What I appreciated so much was that there was no extended angst, just prolonging the inescapable for a longer story. There was trust between these two great guys who from the beginning profess their affection for one another w/o the continued denouncement you see in some books just to get a higher word count. I can’t wait to see whose love match we get in book #3. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book and it comes highly recommended for readers of M/M Romance.

Baseball games, video chats, and dancing create a new beginning for Tate and Simon! Watching Tate an Simon grab that second chance at love, has all the feels for me! A second chance with the one you still love is an amazing gift and both Tate and Simon want this time to be different and they want forever. Both MC's have changed and grown over the last eighteen months apart and this gives them the space to understand what wasn't working and what is truly special about their partnership.I really enjoyed the writing and the story-line kept me reading way to late last night. i became invested in wanting to see them find their way back together. Learning to communicate is so hard for all of us, and realizing that no relationship is perfect makes the work we put into being a good partner worth it. These MC's take their time and date and learn before they go back to living together and i enjoyed their romance.I love how we got to see previous characters from First, the first book in this Mathersons' Series. This book could be read as a stand-alone, but i would so recommend reading book one because you get so much of the relationships of this family. First is also just a fun read!

Tate had been lying to everyone he loved for nearly two years about his relationship with Simon. Simon left because of Tate's family flaw of being an unapologetic workaholic. Simon got tired of spending so much of their relationship alone or when they were together Tate would mess up things that meant a lot to Simon. It took some meddling from Tate's older brother Mason to finally get Tate and Simon back in the same room and contemplating a second chance. I laughed when Simon had to rescue Tate from what was causing the mysterious sounds in his apartment.'I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.'

WOW, this book was absolutely wonderful, I loved it! Definitely a must read, drama, excitement, a beautiful love story and secrets reviled! This Author has you wanting more of the absolute best love story between two beautiful guys! This series was magnificent! So many thanks, Honey Bee 🐝📚💙🎶

Workaholics can ruin a relationship. Both parties must have to acknowledge each other's faults. This is what both Tate and Simon had to do. It just took an interfering brother to stir things up between them to correct their situation. The baseball influence was quite fun to read about.

I loved this second chance romance. Hamish added just enough tension to make the plot a 'knuckle biter.' I loved how they learned the art of compromise and focussed on the interests of their lover.

Tate and Simon were a great couple who weren't only lovers, but great friends as well. This story was sweet and had very low angst. This was a light and refreshing story about two men who really have always been madly in love with each other and forgot it for a short bit.I wish that we could have seen more character development with both these characters. While the story was fun to read, nothing really happened. Simon breaks up with Tate, in the beginning, because Tate is a workaholic. We see Tate acknowledge that he is, and talk to people about not being so single-minded about his work, but we never actually see Tate make a choice to not work, or stop working, in order to strengthen his relationship with Simon.Similarly, Simon says that he has changed, but there wasn't a single instance where we saw any example of it; perhaps all signs of these character's growth was in the periods of skipped time...I also wish that some of the little details had been ironed out - for example, the 18 months of our main characters being separated has turned into an unknown number of years by the middle of the book. Also, Ted's ex-husband getting remarried in South Dakota got down-graded to merely an ex-boyfriend when Tate was talking to Simon about it. It's possible that these things did get caught and corrected in the final, published version.I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
