I love to cook. I'm not a chef but I have taught myself to cook, especially French, Latin and Italian cooking. I am a collector of cook books, Le Creuset and Staud cooking ware. I love baking and canning all kinds of sweets and veggies. Today I received this cookbook "A table in Venice" and I have to say what a beautiful, gorgeous and delightful cookbook!! The story telling, the pictures, the recipes, the entire cookbook it's amazing. I loved it and will most certainly make the recipes. What a wonderful book and great addition to my collection.
I ADORE THIS BOOK FOR MANY REASONS.She grew up in ITALY and I married a REAL ITALIAN.I lived in ITALY for 3 years and never wanted to leave!Skye, has taken me back through her beautiful photos and her cooking techniques!The recipes are simple and mouthwatering. Her esthetics are right up my alley with the use of vintage plates and tableware.She obviously adores the GARDEN as much as cooking as all her clothing is in a FLORAL print! I am making my way through page by page, so far all recipes have been STELLAR.MY ITALIAN approves and believe me that is NOT so easy.I just made her BIRTHDAY CAKE which was a WINNER on every level for me as I am gluten free and so is HER CAKE!The best part is you can make it a few days ahead as it just gets better with AGE!!!!!!!What More can I tell YOU............we all want to get better with AGE and I do Believe there is a secret ingredient in The way ITALIANS DO IT!Skye's Book is a Breath of Fresh AIR.I hope she will write MORE as I will be the first one in Line for a Book signing!I hope this review has been helpful.
Recipes for everyone. This is a must have cookbook, celebration of Venetian cooking. Make your cooking spirit come out. When the box arrived I put on LaBoheme (1896) Puccini, donned my favorite vintage apron for a unique experience. I dusted flour on my cutting board, placed small vases of pretty cut flowers nearby. Trying to set design the way Skye McAlpine has her kitchen. Challenge yourself to re-create many of these dishes. Tonight will be Bigoli with creamy walnut sauce. What are you waiting for? Did I mention the almond paste croissants? Those I prepare especially on Sunday mornings.
I have been following Skye for years on Instagram and when I found out she was publishing a book, I was ecstatic. I have been to Venice a total of three times in my life and each time I fall more and more in love with the city. This book is everything I love about Venice in one cover. The food, the photos, the stories and the people. Not only are the recipes incredible but you genuinely feel like you are at Skye's table in Venice eating with her and her family. THANK YOU for writing this book - I would recommend this over and over again.

The recipes are straightforward and delicious. Purchase the best possible ingredients you can get your hands on and you won't be disappointed. The book sits on my coffee table, and every time I pick it up and look at its stunning photos, I'm right back in Venice! It's a joy to read. Brava Skye!

I love the photographs of venice that are sprinkled through the cookbook. That's actually why I bought the book. I have not made a single thing but the pictures are great. LOL
