This story had a decent plot, but needed some serious attention to detail. For me the write took a huge nose dive when the author explained that Bridgeton was so named because the city had more bridges than any other in the state! Is the reader to believe the city was established and built, remaining nameless until one day someone realized the great number of bridges and said...Hey lets call this no name city for all of the bridges. This is an example of unnecessary info. The WHY the city was so named had nothing to do with the story. And while I am pointing out the senseless ... a woman doesn't stand "behind" the stove when cooking.Place her in front of it, or near it. Don't put her behind it unless she is taking cover from flying bullets. Again, where the woman was standing wasn't of any importance to the story.I tried really hard to ignore the unnecessary "filler words" .I cannot wrap my head around WHY authors go into detail about HOW a character is clothed and get really tired of "and the ________completed the look".Heads up on the fashions in this book.Everyone wears Khakis ... which I always thought was a color, and not a fabric.Lastly, an FBI agent who is in need of a heart transplant just is NOT believable.Better that the agent be in need of lung transplant. As I have said, the plot is good, but the story needs some serious scrubbing to make it shine.
Good plot and story line but do not like books that you have to buy the next novel to get the final ending to the story.
While struggling to find an adjective to describe this book - the word that sprang to mind was 'childish'.It reads like the author read a book entitled 'How to write a novel' - then tried to cram all the 'hints' into this book. The plot is (basically) OK - but the telling of the tale is infantile. The reader could constantly feel that the author was 'talking down' to them. Many of the scenarios and occurrences are truly laughable (laugh-out-aloud laughable) in their improbability.....Then there's the annoying - and silly - open-ended 'ending' ---- leaving the entire rationale of the tome unexplained.
Rick (Tammy’s ex-husband auto mechanic) told Tammy Lynn McGuire (bottling factory production worker) Rick Jr. (5, their son) he was moving in with his mistress.Bridgeton Harbor, MA. Dr. Jacob Cohen (Harvard) worked for Bridgeton Mercy Hospital.1 of his patients FBI SA Jo Pullinger is who has a rare heart disease. He had suggested a long time ago a heart transplant.Martin Rhodes (former Newport PD Detective) had just spent 10 yrs. in prison for murder.Broke he moved from town/town trying to find some sort of work.Parish (town) at a flea bag motel he met Daisy. This did not turn out well she stole all his money from him & vanished.Dupont Subway Station. FBI SA Pullinger was at the crime scene.Chief Vincent Baker (Bridgeton PD) & FBI SAC Charlotte Walters greeted her.Ellen Sheehan news reporter for BN-24 Bridgton TV & Janie Fernandez news reporter for SUNTV were on the air live.Ben Nakamura (ME) finally arrived. The victim was a Caucasian male 40+. Both arms had been chopped off.Chris Foster (FBI IT), FBI SA Tarik Habib, & FBI An Irina Januska (Ukrainian, probation) were assigned to help solve the case.Martin arrived at the House of Hope a soup kitchen for the homeless.Later he & Father Mike got to know 1 another. The FBI later ID the victim as Silvio Tarconi.Tim Yates somehow met Martin & wanted him to find out who had murdered Reed Yates (17, son).Jeremy Turnbull (Natasha’s BF, industrial dry-cleaning business) was telling FBI SA Pullinger & Detective Jay Crowder (Bridgeton PD), that Natasha Wedham (Jeremy’s GF, nurse) had never came home from work.Next stop Bridgeton Mental Care Institute (BMCI) to speak with Dr. Freeman.A list of former patients was made.Warning: This book is for adults only & contains extreme violent or graphic adult content or profanity &/or sexually explicit scenarios. It may be offensive to some readers.I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written PI thriller book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great PI thriller movie, or better yet a mini TV series. To be continued. A very easy rating of 5 stars.Thank you for the free author; Ebooksdaily; Amazon Digital Services LLC; bookTony Parsons MSW (Washburn)
EXCELLENT!! A page turning, well thought out plot and storyline, with a ridiculously scary mindset!! WOW!! Killing people and disembodiment based upon the offense they were judged as committing. then to display them for such a large number of people to witness the gruesomeness of the murders was just twisted on all levels!! This story was extremely easy to follow even when I had to put it down for days and return to it. It never list it's momentum and then ran right into a cliffhanger!! I didn't see it coming and particularly with Ellen being the next victim!! Though very much aware of the fast that the identity of "the master" had not been revealed I still didn't see the cliff hanger coming!! I realize the character of the former detective had spent 10 years of his life in prison, I still liked him!! Shame on me, but I can see myself purchasing the next installment immediately and hoping for a good outcome for him, I know, but what can I say? Get this book!! That's what I will say......
Ok so overall this isn't a bad read. Rhodes and Pullinger are likeable, the killer misguided and ultimately a puppet and the plot itself - ever thickening. Sad to say something about the story just didn't feel right/work for me. The problem is that I'm not exactly sure what. Maybe it was the 'old black and white detective movie' way that the story played out. Though this style of writing has never bothered me before. Maybe it's the Journalist's, Ellen Sheehan's, attitude towards the murders and killer that deep down bothered me... even though to be fair her reaction isn't something other wordly for someone who is trying to be ahead in the news industry. I did however like the plot and so would read on if for nothing else, to see how it progresses in the next books of the series.
