Really enjoyed this book. It was different than most gay stories, I read, yet very well told. The characters are real and interesting-especially the wife liz. Trumble does a really great job and I look forward to another experience with the author in the next book I purchase.
If you're looking for a book that takes you through the wort times of a marriage - throw in a work related mystery and two precious little boys, this is the book for you. Intense at times and a difficult struggle to find happiness again. 4.8 for Wes' poem.
I've loved Trumble's previous books so much I couldn't put them down. I even recommended them to friends and online. But this one was so poorly written I had to put it down, which I very rarely do with books.
I own all of J.H. Trumble's books. This one, however, needed major editing and proofreading. Not only did it have missing words, but the point of narrative from character to character were incorrect. The story was ok...but definitely not her best work...this coming from a huge fan of her previous novels. Was a good read...but if she can't afford a true editor...let the fans have a precopy and assist...many other authors do that...the grammar was subpar.
Not the finest work from Trumble. If you're looking to read one of her books, I would suggest Don't Let Me Go or any of her other works first. The characters are awesome and the plot is decent, but the ending wraps up far too quickly to me. It really has a happily ever after ending and it doesn't seem realistic after all the other events that occur in the story. Also, the grammar errors in this are annoying. Overall it's a good read and will suck you in like any other Trumble book will, but if you're experiencing her for you first time look to one of her other books first.
Another great book by j.h trumble. Never disappoints
Amazing read
I finished this book in less than a day. As always I was gripped by Trumble's excellent characterizations and brilliant storytelling skills. Although the topic is common enough it was beautifully and realistically handled with great attention to detail (all that roofing!) with a real sense of urgency throughout. Again, another Trumble touch, it is the children who are the real stars of this book: especially Oliver but all of the characters are well-drawn and loveable, except for the in-laws that is . . . . . Just one quibble, it really needs another proofread. Isaiah and Patrick occasionally get their names mixed up which really threw me a couple of times! In one sentence ("my heart goes out to her") the book is suddenly in first person - which really startled! On the other hand, another proofread would only add delay and Trumble needs to get writing a new book. I'm already waiting.
